Our mission

VPN marketing is full of vague claims about speed, security, and no-logs. Most provider websites highlight their strengths and bury the trade-offs. VPNPlox fixes that: every provider gets the same 18-dimension score, with weights chosen for the decisions VPN buyers actually make - privacy first, then price, then speed and streaming.

How we collect data

Each entry in the VPN database is reviewed against publicly available information: official audit reports, transparency reports, court records, and Trustpilot. We pull current pricing, the latest audit announcements, and streaming unblock status from a scheduled Playwright + context.dev scrape pipeline. The scrape pipeline never overwrites rubric scores - it fills gaps and surfaces deltas, the way a human editor would.

How we rank providers

Every VPN in our rankings is scored against five factors. The full breakdown lives on our how we rank page. The factors are:

• Privacy and trust (30%) - jurisdiction, audit count and recency, ethics, RAM-only servers, leak protection.
• Price for your usage (25%) - the longest plan price per month, normalized for $/device on multi-device plans.
• Speed and reliability (18%) - WireGuard availability, uptime, and proven bypass in restrictive networks.
• Streaming and unblock (14%) - consistent unblock breadth across Netflix, Prime, iPlayer, Disney+, Hulu, Spotify.
• Features and support (13%) - kill switch, multi-hop, port forwarding, simultaneous devices, 24/7 chat.
